Social Responsibility
Puma Energy takes its social responsibilities
extremely seriously, as we rely upon the sentiments of local
communities and other stakeholders to provide a successful working
environment. We strive to create a good and an ever better working
environment that provides economic opportunities locally while
complying with all the legal requirements.
We know that our operations have an impact
upon communities and regions, much of that is positive in the form
of taxes, jobs, infrastructure development, procurement and
contracting. We also recognise that our operations have less
positive impacts and we are constantly working to eliminate or
mitigate them.
Part of this process is conducted by local
management and staff working closely with local people, communities
and their representatives on a daily basis.
However, Puma Energy also works closely with
the Trafigura Foundation to deliver the company’s community
investment programme. Through the Foundation Puma Energy ensures
that the benefits of its community initiatives are maximised,
captured and reported.
Through the development of long-term
partnerships, the Foundation aims to make a real and sustainable
difference by creating a genuine impact on the societies it
supports globally.
The projects that are supported by the
Foundation reflect Puma Energy’s corporate values and give our
employees the opportunity to develop a broader understanding of our
impact as a business and our role in society.
The Foundation develops its
philanthropic activities in close cooperation with Puma Energy
offices worldwide. The Foundation also encourages and supports
fundraising efforts by groups of employees by matching all amounts
raised for local charities.
The environment and education are two
of the Foundation’s mainstream fields of action, but its
initiatives also encompass the themes of health and disability,
rural development, social inclusion, and social entrepreneurship.
Occasionally, the Foundation also gets involved in emergency relief
and post-disaster recovery activities.
